Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: September 8, 2026
ThriftStores.io is free to use and independently operated. Building and maintaining a directory of more than fourteen thousand stores, and writing the guides, costs money. This page explains exactly how the site earns it, so you can judge what you read here with that in mind.
Display advertising
Pages may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Advertisers pay Google, and Google pays us a share when ads are shown or clicked. Ads are labeled as such and appear in fixed positions on the page; they are never mixed into store listings, search results, or rankings. We do not choose or endorse individual advertisers, and an ad appearing next to a store does not mean the store paid for anything. How advertising cookies work and how to opt out of personalized ads is covered in our privacy policy.
Affiliate links
Some of our guides discuss online resale platforms, reselling tools, and useful gear. Where we link to such a product or service, the link may be an affiliate link: if you click it and buy or sign up, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. We only link to things that fit the guide’s subject, we say so where the links appear, and a commission never changes what we recommend or how we describe alternatives.
What is never for sale
- Listings. Stores are included because they exist and sell secondhand goods to the public. No store has paid to be listed, and store owners update their listings for free.
- Rankings. Our best-of-city pages are computed from public ratings with a published method. Positions cannot be bought.
- Ratings and photos. Star ratings are third-party public ratings shown only when they rest on enough reviews; photos are real storefront photos. We do not accept payment to alter either.
- Editorial content. Guides are written by us, carry the date they were last reviewed, and are not sponsored.
Questions
If anything on the site looks like an undisclosed advertisement or a paid placement, tell us at contact@thriftstores.io and we will look into it. Our about page describes how the directory is built, and our terms of use cover the rest.
