About The Salvation Army Family Store
The Salvation Army’s thrift stores — branded Family Stores — fund its Adult Rehabilitation Centers, residential recovery programs for people overcoming addiction. The stores are one of the oldest and largest thrift operations in the country.
Donating (or selling) to them
Family Stores accept clothing, furniture, housewares, books, and working appliances. The Salvation Army is one of the few national operations with free scheduled home pickup for furniture and large donations, booked online through its donation site or by phone.
Pickup calendars in busy areas fill one to three weeks out, so schedule before you need the space back. Receipts are provided at pickup or drop-off.
Shopping there
Family Stores are strong for furniture and appliances because of the pickup pipeline. Many stores run weekly half-off days and color-tag rotations; schedules are set locally.
